Pink Widow by Kingdom Organic Seeds
I started with, one day, smoking some Pink Candy hashish I had made. As I drifted into what was a pretty intense buzz, I noticed an intense “body hit” that was uniquely narcotic on my brain as well. The ride then took on a rollercoaster aspect, where my level of baked would rise and fall noticeably. Smoking too much of the Pink Candy can tend to spin you out.
There are two genotypes this instantly reminded me of. Durban Poison due to the rollercoaster effect. And mostly, the old school White Widow (WW). A legend that I remember quite well. One fairly common thing about the White Widow is her South American (50%) lineage using ‘The White’ … a notorious strain from down there. Like their version of ‘The Black’ (V. Black). So instantly in my old brain I decided to make this cross, and I really think this Pink Widow is an epic cross.
I started with 6 or 7 potential female WW breeders but ultimately chose only two of them to release seeds from. These were the best noticeably, but I have to say most of them were pretty good looking. I started with 3 sources for my WW. Two friends, Mike M., Karma (not that Karma), and Nirvana. All three seemed pretty legit to me from my memories of the WW and the only reason I didn’t use one of the Nirvana fems was due to a little issue all the Nirvana fems had which was a weak stem thing. From experience I know this is sometimes a result of selfing/reversing/backcrossing that can lock it into the genotype. They all looked pretty good.
The White Widow is also notorious (in my old circles at any rate) as a strain you be VERY careful with when drinking. Be thee warned there my friends. White Widow has a tendency to spin you out hard if you have also been drinking much. I suspect the Pink Widow will also have this facet.
Pink Widow Lineage
Male Breeder(s) Deets: 1 superior males of Pink Candy was the paternal P1 in this cross. The Pink Candy really expresses a lot of its Durban Poison inclusive lineage. Very pink (pistils) and purple (leaves/calyxes) buds from the Pink Candy and they’re just dripping with resin. Along with all that, large yields without a lot of stretching after 1st 3 weeks of flowering. This male had uber resin production potential as foretold by the Cotyledon’s leaf hair production density. This male was a thug with very large floral formations.
Female Breeder(s) Deets: 2 White Widow (WW) females were the maternal P1s in this cross. They were chosen from an original 6 females as potential breeders. I chose the female WW that had pretty good yields and had a massive amount of resin production—over the top of the other females by a decent amount. This selection came from my old buddy Mike M. in Klamath. It looked and smelled the way I remember the WW did, and it had that unique floral morphology. The other female I selected was from Karma, a very old acquaintance. I selected this female as well. While the resin production didn’t quite match the female from Mike, it was pretty close. But the yields were +30 percent of Mike’s WW. Karma’s WW also had very similar morphology to Mike’s it was just bigger and bigger yielding.
La Smoking Insights
Trippy, intense. Pink Widow really embraces that unique quality of the old White Widow that spins you out rather easily. So respect that and have a blast!
Growing Instructions
Please do not sprout these on a 24/0 photoperiod and Kingdom Organic Seeds recommends 16/8 for sprouting and until 30 days old. Then switch to 18/6. Alternately…
Using a flowering photoperiod of 12/12 on sprouts for their first 10 days above ground, then switching them to an 18/6 photoperiod will allow you to easily sex them at 30 days of age—give or take 3 days.
Always allow plants to get at least 55 days old from sprouting, before starting to flower for maximum resin production. Plants grown from seed work much better outdoors in the ground than clones do. Alternately, clones work much better in containers than plants from seeds do. Sprout seeds in ambient temps of 75 – 85 deg. F. Obviously KOS always recommends organically growing our gear in living soil for the full appreciation of smells and flavors, among many other reasons—cheers!
